Bulls Abroad: Miazga earns U-20 World Cup call-up

The 19-year old defenseman's resume keeps building and building

The New York Red Bulls' young defensive sensation, Matt Miazga, has been one of seven MLS players to receive a call-up by Tab Ramos for the U-20 World Cup this summer in New Zealand.  From the club's press release, Miazga will join his teammates after the game against FC Dallas on May 15.

If USA can go the distance, Miazga will miss quite a few MLS matches.  The Red Bulls have four games scheduled from May 24-June 20.  He could miss even more games since the US Open Cup runs from June 5-20.  Additionally, RBNY face RSL on June 24 and NYCFC on June 28.  Jesse Marsch may elect to hold out Miazga for those so he can recover from the (up to) seven World Cup games he would have played in.

Miazga was an integral part for U-20 team during December's CONCACAF qualifying tournament.  After starting with a 1-1 draw, the US recorded four consecutive shutout wins to take 3rd place and book themselves a trip to New Zealand.
