The New York Red Bulls lost one half of the French Connection when Thierry Henry retired in December. Now we lose the other half as we say goodbye to the retiring Peguy Luyindula.
Luyindula had only been with us a relatively short time -- 2013 to 2014 -- but in that period, Red Bulls won a Supporters' Shield, nearly made it to MLS Cup, and had so many last-second goals and wild home wins that one might view the Peguy era as one the greatest in the franchise's history.
While a smooth finisher (once he got settled), Peguy also had some key assists in those two years. Most importantly, everyone -- including Henry -- looked improved when Luyindula was on the pitch.
Bidding adieu to someone is never easy, but as my grandfather always said, what makes a goodbye process go more smoothly is a video montage. So sit back, relax, and remember with us the times we shared with Peguy Luyindula.
Peguy, Thank you for all you contributed over the past 2 years. We had our rough spots during our time together but I always respected you

You were a big part of our 2 year success and I know you will do well in your next adventure. Au Revoir Peguy Luyindula
