CONCACAF announced all of the provisional rosters for the 12 teams playing in this summer's edition of the Gold Cup. Amongst the 61 MLS players included, four of them are defensemen for the New York Red Bulls. Jamaica called Kemar Lawrence, Canada called Karl Ouimette, Costa Rica called Roy Miller and Haiti called Andrew Jean-Baptiste. Canada, Costa Rica and Jamaica are all in the same group. Here are their international statistics:
Lawrence: 15 caps, 2 goals. He also scored in a scrimmage this week. Jamaica plays Roy Miller and Costa Rica for their Gold Cup opener on July 8th.
Ouimette: 8 caps. Canada has two World Cup Qualifying games against Dominica, so Karl could have 10 by the time Gold Cup starts. Canada opens the Gold Cup with El Salvador on July 8th.
Miller: 51 caps, 1 goal. Costa Rica's first Gold Cup game is against Jamaica on July 8th.
Jean-Baptiste: If AJB makes an appearance, it will be his first cap for Haiti. He was involved with US U-18 and U-20 teams, but hasn't played internationally since ageing out of the youth teams. Haiti kicks off the 2015 Gold Cup with a game on July 7th against Panama.
Thankfully Matt Miazga will be back by the time the tournament starts since the four defensemen will be expected to miss the July 4th game at the Columbus Crew SC and home against the New England Revolution on July 11th - if they make their respective 23-man rosters for the Gold Cup.
Final squads must be confirmed by June 23.
