Rumor: Didier Drogba turns down Orlando City, two weeks after Orlando City turned down Didier Drogba

When it comes to Drogba stories, the rumor mill will not slow down...

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Sky Sports has broken the news that Didier Drogba has rejected a two-year contract offered by MLS's very own Orlando City SC. The report (based on information provided by "Sky sources") follows yesterday's suggestion from Gazzetta dello Sport that Drogba was "in talks" with the New York Red Bulls.

As pointed out by our colleagues over at The Mane Land, this is not the first time Drogba and Orlando City have been said to have failed to reach an agreement: just two weeks ago, a now-vanished report by OTowns11.com claimed OCSC turned down the player's request for (deep breath) $8 million for a six-month contract. The original report is gone, but MLSGB.com's account is still standing.

So now Drogba and Orlando have got their tit-for-tat rejections of each other's advances out the way, is the coast clear for RBNY? Perhaps. But several reports in the European press cite an opinion expressed in L'Equipe (which has proved elusive; let us know if you find it): the Ivoirian is mulling a move to Qatar.

One thing we know for sure: Didier's request for the rumor mill to calm down has not been heard.
