The New York Red Bulls will attempt to put their losing streak to bed during their double game week in Week 17. It happens to be a special edition of Double Game Week since both teams RBNY is playing have a connection to Jason Kreis. RBNY will start off with Real Salt Lake (former Kreis team) at home on June 24th, then jump over the Hudson River to take on New York City FC (current Kreis team) on June 28th.
RSL haven't been the title-contender stalwarts they once were the last few seasons (possibly since losing Jason Kreis to NYCFC??). They currently rank ninth in the Western Conference. NYCFC hasn't fared much better. They are currently tied with RBNY, but since they are in the weak Eastern Conference, a win by either team could launch them into a playoff spot.
I recommend to buy Matt Miazga. Jesse Marsch gambled by starting Ronald Zubar over Miazga against the Whitecaps, but Zubar isn't fast enough to cover the likes of Joao Plata and David Villa. A gamble, but I think it will pay off... Buy Luis Robles and make him your captain. RSL has struggled to score and expect RBNY to come out flying against NYCFC. I predict at least one clean sheet for the Red Bulls this week.
An easy sell is Sacha Kljestan. He didn't help his team by earning a red card in the 11th minute of the Vancouver game and won't help your team since he'll be suspended for the RSL game. A much harder sell is Bradley Wright-Phillips. One would think his confidence would have been riding high: getting married, having his brother in town to train with his team. But his confidence took a huge tumble when he had both of his PK attempts saved by David Ousted. He needs to show me that he can get back into his 2014 form.
