Calcionews24.com has weighed in with an exclusive report stating that Victoras Astafei - alleged to be of interest to the New York Red Bulls - has received an offer from Turkey's Adanaspor.
The same report suggests the player also has caught the attention of clubs in Belgium and Thailand.
A source close to Astafei tells Once A Metro "the offer from Turkey is real", but also suggests there still multiple options the player is considering, including inquiries from more than one MLS team.
RBNY's sporting director, Ali Curtis, recently reiterated the club's commitment to younger players. "We don't want to go out and sign players just kind of at the end of their careers," he told BigAppleSoccer.com.
Astafei will turn 28 in July: more in his prime than past his best. He seems to fit the age and experience profile RBNY is looking for, but so do many players. Right now, he's just one of several out-of-contract names being connected to a club that is a favorite of the rumor mill. And now he has a concrete offer from Turkey to consider. We may see a conclusion to this one shortly.
