RBNY MLS Fantasy Recap Week 17: Miazga, Grella, Robles

RBNY grab all six points from their double game week

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Red Bulls found themselves on the winning end of two games this week against two teams currently chasing the playoffs in each conference. First, RBNY defeated Real Salt Lake at home on Wednesday night by a score of 1-0. They followed up by traveling to Yankee Stadium on Sunday to defeat New York City FC 3-1 after falling behind in the 6th minute. Surprisingly, after dropping four games in a row, RBNY is only one point from being in second place in the Eastern Conference. Here were their top performers over the last week:

Matt Miazga (DEF, 18 points): After returning from the U-20 World Cup, Miazga has been the best player from RBNY. He helped the team record a clean sheet against RSL, then followed it up by scoring his first MLS goal against NYCFC.  Many say that he completely took David Villa out of the game on Sunday.

Mike Grella (MID, 12 points): Grella scored a goal against RSL in the 4th minute to lift RBNY to the victory. Then recorded an assist against NYCFC on Sunday.  He has been slowly solidifying his place on the wing.

Luis Robles (GK, 11 points): In my first correct "bold" prediction of the season, Robles grabbed a clean sheet against RSL. Then, he did his part to keep his team in the NYCFC game by making four saves, some in dramatic fashion.  Giving up one goal in two games is pretty good for a RBNY defense that has been a revolving door the whole season.

The Red Bulls will seek to extend their three-game winning streak (in all competitions) when they host the New York Cosmos during the US Open Cup Round of 16 on July 1st, then travel to the Columbus Crew in a league matchup on Independence Day.
