Bradley Wright-Phillips has not been nominated for MLS Goal of the Week since Week 10: the last time the New York Red Bulls played NYCFC and the last time he scored a goal.
Fortunately for the slumping striker - now moved over to left wing in what appears to be RBNY's preferred formation - the Red Bulls get to play NYCFC more than once a season, so BWP got the chance to turn around his flagging fortunes.
He got a lot of opportunities to score this week, as he has done throughout a frustrating seven-game scoreless streak, but he finally put one away in the 47th minute, two minutes into the second-half, to get RBNY back into the match and on its way to what turned out to be a resounding victory.
A left-footed volley hit with power and purpose. That's the BWP we want to see for RBNY. Vote for him!
The other goals nominated in Week 17 were pretty good too.
But BWP is - slump notwithstanding - the Red Bulls' leading scorer so far in 2015. That was his sixth goal of the season, the 39th of his career for RBNY. And we hope to see many more from him before the year is over.
