Vote Robles! Because the New York Red Bulls' 'keeper's nomination for MLS's Save of the Week and Captain Dax McCarty's Team of the Week honor are probably the only matters worth celebrating to emerge from RBNY's frustrating rise-and-fall routine in Seattle in Week 13.
And it is worth celebrating the work of Luis Robles this week:
That is pretty much all reflexes. The trajectory of the ball changes so abruptly, Robles doesn't have time or opportunity to position himself for a save - all he can do is react.
Are there other candidates? Of course:
And it is stiff competition: every one of the other nominees this week has won a Save of the Week vote already this season. Tyler Deric has won three; Nick Rimando has finished first in the voting twice so far in 2015; David Ousted and Stefan Frei each have one SotW win to their name this season.
This is the sixth nomination this year for Robles: he's showing up here roughly every two weeks and...not winning. Last time around, he finished fourth with 10.56% of the vote.
He's a stronger candidate this week than he was the last time he was nominated. Vote Robles! And let's bring the RBNY 'keeper his first SotW success of the season.
