Today, Houston Dynamo left midfielder, MLS veteran and MetroStars' draft-pick Brad Davis was ruled out of the CONCACAF Gold Cup with a knee injury. An exact timetable for Davis' return has not been given and he will return to his club for further assessment.
US Men's National Team Coach Jurgen Klinsmann has called in left back Greg Garza to replace Davis. The player recently signed for Liga MX team Atlas and was a surprise exclusion from the 23 man roster.
In order to officially add Garza to the roster US Soccer is currently working on submitting the neccessary papers to CONCACAF. Because Greg Garza was on the team's preliminary 35-man roster he may replace an injured player on the final roster up to 24 hours before the USMNT's first game. Garza's addition to the roster should be approved and he is available to play Friday in the international friendly against Guatemala at LP field in Nashville. Garza's inclusion gives Jurgen Klinsmann increased flexibility since, although Tim Ream is capable of playing Left Back, Fabian Johnson was previously the only natural left back on the roster.
