The MLS Save of Week 13 vote was won by Seattle Sounders' Stefan Frei, who collected 36.02% for saving a ball he watched sail over his defense toward him. The Seattle 'keeper tracked the ball in the air and, under no pressure from the New York Red Bulls' forwards, dived athletically to palm away the shot.
It was a pretty save.
Luis Robles, at the other end of the pitch in the same game, also made an impressive save - a reflex stop to prevent a sharply redirected header from arrowing the ball past him. He did not throw himself into the air like Frei, largely because he didn't have time to consider the aesthetics of his work. Robles simply had to throw an arm out and stop the shot.
An impressive save.
Sadly, not impressive enough to win Robles the Save of the Week award. He picked up 11.26% of the vote and fifth place.
Next time, Luis. There is always next time.
