Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

Darren Meyer is the new Director of Marketing Partnerships and Premium Services for the New York Red Bulls.

The team announced in a release that Meyer was hired on June 9th. He will work to bring the Red Bulls new "premium seating clients," sponsors, and partners. The last partnership the Red Bulls announced publicly was with Yanmar. The deal with the Japanese diesel engine manufacturer was valued at over seven-figures and signaled that the team was willing to "push the limit" with new deals. Meyer will certainly have his work cut out for him.

Meyer is a 17-year veteran in the sports marketing and sponsorship scene, according to the release, and worked with the Brooklyn Nets as the team moved from New Jersey into its new home, the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Before joining the Red Bulls, Meyer worked with the Atlantic-10 Conference, working to sell marketing partnerships and sponsorship opportunities to the college sports conference. According to the release, Meyer was responsible for bringing the A-10 college basketball tournament to the Barclays Center and the Richmond Coliseum for the men's and women's tournament respectively.

Welcome, Darren!
