New York Red Bulls II sign Jamaican Devon "Speedy" Williams

The USL reserve squad grows by one.

Andy Marlin-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Red Bulls announced via a press release that midfielder Devon Chesterson Williams (nickname Speedy) has signed with New York Red Bulls II pending approval of his P-1 Visa.

Speedy is a Jamaican international who has appeared with the senior squad in 2010 and the U-20s. He played his college soccer at Robert Morris University and notched two goals and five assists during his senior season. He was named second team all-conference in 2013. Williams scored six goals and tallied 15 assists during his college career.

New York Red Bulls II desperately needed to add some depth to their roster as they were showing up to multiple matches with less than a full bunch. In addition, the USL squad will be losing its five players with Academy contracts in the near future when they report to college.

According to this interview his favorite athlete is Ronaldinho and used to be called "The Jamaican Iverson."

Here's his highlight tape.
