Let's see if they can keep this streak going. Sky Blue FC came into the season on an unbeaten streak, and then suffered what seemed like a never ending winless streak of 10 games that bookmarked the Women's World Cup. This week, traveling into Rochester, the team will look to build off the momentum they built of a 1-0 win over Portland. The key to that victory was former Western New York Flash player, Samantha Kerr. She'll suit up against a team that looks very little like the team she played on last year.
Last year, Sky Blue had to deal with Kerr, Abby Wambach, and World Cup hero Carli Lloyd. This year the Flash attempted to rebuild around Sydney Leroux and rookie Samantha Mewis, the younger sister of Boston Breaker Kristie Mewis. The bad news for Western New York, and good news for Sky Blue, is that Leroux is out for this match and most likely the remainder of the season after having ankle surgery.
