It's summertime, so of course that means we have our annual dose of meaningless mid season friendlies. This year we start off facing Chelsea in the International Champions Cup. The Red Bulls will likely be fielding a team of reserves and NYRB II players as the senior team competed in a 120 minute US Open Cup game just over 24 hrs before tonight's kickoff. Expect to see not so much of Chelsea's starters either as they are in preseason mode and will look to get fitness without hurting the health of the squad. The game should have a toned downed feel for the Red Bulls after the disappointing loss, but the crowd will be mostly pro-Chelsea anyway with the big club visiting. Can the Red Bulls happen to knock off the defending Premiere League champions with reserves? We'll find out tonight.
