It is safe to say Dax McCarty may not play against Benfica.
McCarty was announced as an injury substitute for the 2015 MLS All-Star Game, replacing New York City FC designated player Frank Lampard.
Honored and proud at the opportunity to represent @NewYorkRedBulls at the @MLS All-Star game. Truly humbling. Thanks for all the kind words!

No, Dax, thank you for your all-star level play this season.
The MLS All-Stars will take on Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur at Dick's Sporting Good Park in Commerce, Colorado, the home of the Colorado Rapids on July 29th.
In addition to being the Red Bulls' captain, McCarty has been in MLS for 10 seasons, and making his All-Star Game debut, a fact Red Bulls coach Jesse Marsch said "it's due time for him." Lampard is yet to play a game in MLS. He will serve as a commissioner's pick for the game.
McCarty is not the only Red Bull being represented in the All-Star festivities, as homegrown singing Sean Davis will play in the Homegrown Game on July 28.
