The New York Red Bulls lost 2-1 to the Columbus Crew SC on July 4th and will now host the New England Revolution a week later. The Revs are much like the Red Bulls: a bit depleted by injuries and international call-ups. It could be an even match up even though both teams are currently not at their best form of the season. Here are the players RB will need to contend with on July 11th:
Bobby Shuttleworth (GK, 73 points; 5 clean sheets, 46 saves): Shuttleworth has played in all but one game for the Revs this year. New England has been on a bit of a slide (like the Red Bulls). He only has one clean sheet since playing RB in Week 9. He had four clean sheets in the eight previous weeks. He has given up 13 goals in his last seven games, so RB could get a couple.
Andrew Farrell (DEF, 74 points; 5 clean sheets, 1 RC): Farrell received a red card two weeks ago, so he should return to the lineup against the Red Bulls after missing the FCD game. He'll be a man on a mission since his team let up three goals without him in the starting XI. It's pretty incredible that he has played 1,558 minutes and this was his first card of any color. Especially for a guy his size.
Scott Caldwell (MID, 85 points; 2 goals, 4 assists): Caldwell has been the Revs most consistent midfielder, only missing 101 minutes all season out of the team's 20 games (1800 minutes). He has an assist during his last game against RB.
Charlie Davies (FWD, 74 points; 7 goals, 1 assists): Davies had a stretch of four consecutive games with a goal, including the last RB game. He hasn't scored in his last three, but over that time, he only put in one full 90-minute performance. He'll be itching to get another.
The Revs will be without Jermaine Jones who has a groin injury and Darrius Barnes who tore his patella tendon back in April, a 6-month injury.
