NYRB II to play all remaining home games at Red Bull Arena

We will not be playing at Columbia University anymore.

The Baker Field experience is over.

After playing one game at the Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium (a 1-1 tie to the Charleston Battery on May 17th), NYRB II general manager Shaun Oliver announced that all remaining home games will be moved back to Red Bull Arena.

"As we looked into our future at Columbia and after several discussions with their athletic department leaders, it was best for both parties that we play the remainder of our 2015 USL matches at Red Bull Arena," Oliver said in a press release put out by the team.

"We remain in conversations with Columbia University regarding a partnership for future seasons."

The next NYRB II match, against the Harrisburg Islanders, will still be played on July 12th at 7pm. The July 26th match against the Richmond Kickers has been moved to 4pm on July 25th, to avoid conflict with the International Champions Cup friendly against S.C. Benfica.

No other NYRB II dates conflict with the senior team's schedule.

New York City FC was rumored to be interested in building a soccer stadium in coordination with Columbia University earlier this year.

As noted by Empire of Soccer's NYRB II beat writer Anthony Merced on twitter, the field of Red Bull Arena is grass, while the field at Columbia is turf.
