Jason Kreis is a desperate man.
In an attempt to hype up his team, the New York City FC manager tried to claim that New York Red Bulls players made "crass" comments following a 3-1 deconstruction in June.
"In both matches we had periods and stretches where we were quite good," Kreis said. "We may think those periods and stretches were a bit longer than they want to say they were in the game, and I thought that was a little bit crass, some of the talking they did after our last match.
"We’ll remind our players of what was said, and we’ll hope we go into this game with a little extra motivation."
Before we continue, here's the definition of crass:
: having or showing no understanding of what is proper or acceptable
: rude and insensitive
And what did those rude, crude, and lewd Red Bulls players say after they thoroughly trashed NYCFC at their own stadium?
"Not only to come to their place and dominate they way that we did in the second half, but realistically they only had the game for about 15 minutes," Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles said after the match.
LUIS! YOU USED TO BE SUCH A NICE BOY!
"It was a great second half; some of the best we’ve played all season. Honestly we scored three, but it probably could have been five," [McCarty] said. "They were gassed, we had energy, we had life."
Michael. Dax. McCarty. Wait until your father gets home and I tell him what you said.
"They came in with a lot of energy, and we weren’t prepared. But after 15 or 20 minutes, we had the rest of the game," [Kljestan] said. "We were creating chances and, in the end, we had a lot of confidence that we would win the game."
THESE COMMENTS ARE VERY RUDE AND INSENSITIVE, SACHA.
"Watching them over the season I've seen them do it on plenty of occasions so I think they probably feel pretty comfortable doing that, dropping off and playing a negative match as they did in the second half and it's too bad we couldn't punish them for it."
What a disgusting thing to say... uhh... who said this?
Oh, right! It was Jason Kreis in 2008 after the Red Bulls beat Real Salt Lake in the Conference Finals.
"Honest to God, we didn't lose the game, we gave the game away."
What crass individual said this instead of doing the talking on the field? Oh, Jason Kreis again?
"We were the much better team."
What naughty boy is going to have to get his mouth washed out with soap? Shoot... Jason Kreis.
I could keep going, but I think you get the point. Jason Kreis, like most coaches and players, says things after matches. And most of them would be considered crass based on his definition of the word that would make a Puritan say, "Chill out, dude."
You do you, Jason. And by "doing you," I mean being a hypocrite, and meanwhile, Kljestan will keep doing him.
Kljestan on Kreis' comments from yesterday: "Whatever. Let's talk again after the game tomorrow." #RBNY
