The New York Red Bulls avenged a defeat from two weeks ago against the Chicago Fire to come back from a 0-2 deficit and win 3-2 on Friday night. The win put RBNY into first place in the Eastern Conference, one point better than D.C. United with two games in hand. The team's 1.73 points per game is tops in the league right now. If they can continue their winning ways, they'll ensure a Supporter's Shield victory. Here are this week's top performers:
Sacha Kljestan (MID; 14 points): I can't get enough of this guy! Kljestan had another fantastic game, gathering a goal and an assist. That's three straight double digit fantasy point games, and the seventh time in eight games scoring at least eight points. He is still on fire (no pun intended). Kljestan scored off a second half PK to complete the comeback and assisted BWP on the first goal for RBNY in the first half. Keep this guy on your team!
Lloyd Sam (MID; 7 points): Sam is starting to pick up some steam himself. He also has enjoyed three straight game scoring at least one point. This game, he garnished a (rather weak) penalty call, in which Kljestan converted. He is getting back into early season form.
Mike Grella (MID; 7 points): Grella found himself inside the 18 and made a nifty move to tie the game in the 38th minute after Sam fed him. Grella has been a pleasant surprise for the Red Bulls all season. At first, he was Sal Zizzo's backup. Now he is giving newly signed DP, Gonzalo Veron a run for his money as well.
The Red Bulls will enjoy another double game week in Week 29, but both will be on the road. First will be at the New England Revolution on Wednesday night, then they complete their schedule against Western Conference foes when they visit the Portland Timbers on Sunday. Stay tuned for my next Buy 'Em or Bag 'Em so you have the right personnel on your team to maximize points for your team.
