Roster change deadline: Wednesday September 16, 7:30pm ET
Amount of Free Transfers this week: 2
After exacting revenge on the Chicago Fire 3-2 at home, the New York Red Bulls will now take their talents on the road... twice. First they'll play the New England Revolution who, after losing five in a row, are unbeaten in seven straight games and have won six of them. But they'll be without Jermaine Jones due to yellow card accumulation. Then, they will close the weekend with the Portland Timbers. The Timbers are also in good form, unbeaten in five of their last six.
The Red Bulls are tied with D.C. United for the lead in the East with 45 points, but RBNY has played three less games. Let's hope they can continue their winning ways. If they are able to grab all six points this week, they will be tops in the whole league with a whopping 1.82 points per game. That is fairly close with last year's Seattle Sounders (1.88 ppg) when they won the Shield.
I recommend to buy and captain Sacha Kljestan. He has played in 11 games since returning from his red card suspension. He's scored double digit fantasy points in five of them. Outstanding. In that timeframe, his fantasy value has incredibly spiked from $9.0M to $10.3M.
It will be his midfield to control this week, so his play will more or less determine how the offense performs. On the other end of the field, you should buy Matt Miazga. He and his defensive compatriots have grabbed clean sheets in half of their last eight games. At 20 years old, it's surprising, but he makes the back line tick.
I sadly will need to bag Luis Robles. During NE's current seven game form, they have scored 15 goals. Portland however have only scored five goals during their current run. If he manages to grab a clean sheet this week, it won't be against NE.
