Dax McCarty reportedly signs new 4 year deal

After months of speculation, it seems like the captain will be returning to Red Bull Arena and will NOT be a free agent for 2017.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Ives Galarcep of Goal USA is reporting that Dax McCarty has signed a 4 year deal and will stay with the club until 2020. No other details are being reported. Once a Metro reached out to the New York Red Bulls, but the team would not provide a comment.

if this is true, it is big news not only for the Red Bulls, but for the league as well, as Dax was supposed to be one of the top players in the 2017 free agents of MLS. With this new deal, the Red Bulls get to keep one of their top performers of the past season.

As for how much Dax is making, we're not quite sure yet. Again, as Goal USA reported, the only certainties here are that Dax has signed a new contract and that he'll be a part of the club until 2020 at least. We'll get more information to you as it comes to us, including when the club officially announces this deal.
