Grant Wahl came out with a piece today looking at some story lines heading into the annual January camp for the United States Men's National Team. The start of camp was moved back a week, both of their upcoming games are in California, and news that a good portion of the roster would be U-23 players. Oh, and Luis Robles is reported to be part of the call-ups.
Disclaimer: this is a "report" is the loosest possible definition as the call-ups have not been officially announced. With that being said, congratulations Luis on your call-up! Yes, you have been called up before, but you deserve to be in camp again after the run you have had with New York.
On the flip side, there's no news on Dax McCarty. The midfielder, who is reportedly signing a contract extension, has been noticeably absent from the US squad, despite being one of the best defensive midfielders in MLS the last few years. Seeing as Wahl only mentioned three players by name, it's possible he can be called in, but we won't be holding our breath, as Klinsmann seems unwilling to take a player who could help in the midfield.
