The 2016 USL Eastern Conference playoff final will feature New York Red Bulls II and Louisville City FC.

NYRB II booked its place by edging Rochester Rhinos in a penalty shoot-out after 120 minutes had seen the teams battle each other to a 3-3 tie. Louisville's semifinal against Charleston Battery wasn't quite as enthralling: a well-contested match saw both sides spurn good chances; Kadeem Dacres gave his team the 1-0 win.

The results mean the Eastern side of the USL playoffs bracket has gone as predicted by regular season form: the top two teams in the Eastern Conference standings will compete for the right to represent their half of the league in the USL Cup final.

The match will be played on October 16 at Red Bull Arena. (Which means, lucky RBNY fans, that if you are planning to attend the MLS team's game against Columbus Crew - all you need to do to see the II team is stick around.)
