The New York Red Bulls entered the 2016 MLS Playoffs as the top team in the Eastern Conference. Going off of their first match against the Montreal Impact, you wouldn’t know it. In a series where away goals are almost counted double, the Red Bulls, and every other higher seed in the playoffs, did nothing with that. A 1-0 loss to Montreal was not a good result to the first round.
Can the Red Bulls make it right and take the series at home? They’ll need a big performance as a 2 or more goal win on Sunday is the only way to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. But hey, at least the Red Bulls aren’t facing a two goal deficit like New York City FC or a three goal mountain like FC Dallas. We’ll see if they can secure a trip to the next round.
