Report: Terrence Boyd will leave RB Leipzig, hasn't decided where or when he's going

Really all we know for sure is his future does not lie in Leipzig.

The New York Red Bulls have already poured cold water on the rumored transfer of Terrence Boyd from the Leipzig branch of the RB soccer family. But the story persists. Impressively, Bild has managed both to help and hinder the rumor in a single report.

Writing for the German outlet, Stefan Krause advises Boyd has confirmed he won't be continuing with Leipzig beyond his current contract (which expires in the summer of 2017) and that RBNY is "hot on him". Boyd himself told Krause the New York flavor of Red Bull global soccer is "already a delightful alternative".

All of which sounds very encouraging.

But Krause also notes concerns about the cost of living in New York (an issue that may have derailed Tim Sebastian's proposed move to RBNY last season), and the potential career-stalling effects of a move to MLS from Europe. It is also suggested that St. Pauli is leading a queue of suitors from 2. Bundesliga.

So - per Bild - Boyd is leaving Leipzig, does have solid interest from RBNY, but has options and is yet to even decide whether he'll leave his current club in the winter window or take his chances as a free agent in the summer.

Uncertainty is, of course, music to the ears of the rumor mill. Huddersfield Town fans appear to be trying to get a Boyd rumor off the ground:

More will doubtless follow once the January window opens. And RBNY will probably stay in the mix until or unless Boyd decisively rules out a move to New York.
