New York Red Bulls to attend Midwest Pro Combine

NYRB II will be attending too, as RBNY scouts for talent for its 2017 rosters.

The New York Red Bulls have got off to a relatively quiet start to the off-season. A couple of roster announcements have been made regarding NYRB II and the first team squad, but there are bigger (or, at least, more) decisions still to come.

There should be no doubt, however, that the club is actively working on its plans for 2017. Evidence of such work arrived on December 1, when the organizers of the inaugural Midwest Pro Combine announced RBNY had committed to attending the event - and had also decided to send representatives of NYRB II to watch the players assembled in Pontiac, Michigan, on December 19 and 20.

The Combine will provide scouts with a look at several players expected to show up in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, and several who may show up in pre-season training camps with a variety of MLS and USL clubs. The event hopes to attract 60 players; 21 have been announced so far:

To date, 16 clubs have committed to sending scouts to the Combine.
