Bob Montgomery has a new role with the New York Red Bulls.
The, now, former Academy Director, Montgomery will serve as Director of Coaching Education and Youth Partnerships for the team. The move is billed to be part of a "restructuring of youth development system" for the franchise. According to a release, the search for a new Academy Director will "begin immediately".
The new restructure moves Montgomery to serve as a coaching advisor to all of the organization's teams, and will "ensure that the club's philosophy, style of play and core principles stay consistent between all three platforms," according to the release. The club also announced they will be enacting "several programs in place," to begin the initiative.
Sporting Director Ali Curtis said in a release the changes, "are designed to keep the Red Bulls ahead of the curve in terms of how young players are developed."
"The changes are a tangible sign of our commitment to continue to enrich youth soccer in the Metro area and to become the strongest and most innovative developer of young talent in North America."
Montgomery has served as Academy Director for the Red Bulls since 2008.
