All Signs Point to Gideon Baah Coming to New York Red Bulls

Are the Red Bulls close to landing Matt Miazga's replacement?

There have been a couple of stories in the past few weeks that the New York Red Bulls are in need to fill the shoes of Matt Miazga.  One of those stories has now centered around HJK Helsinki and Ghana international center back, Gideon Baah.  According to Urheilu Lehti, a Finnish website, Baah's deal with the Barcelona B squad has fallen through, and the Red Bulls are the front runners to scooping up the 24-year old Ghanian.

Baah only has one cap for the Black Stars.  It came in a friendly against Canada on October 13th.  Coincidentally enough, that is the same game that Lloyd Sam received his first cap on the senior international stage as well.  Could he have put in a good word with Jesse Marsch?  Possibly.

The pickup would be a good one.  Since 2013, Baah has made 70 league appearances in the Veikkausliiga (Finnish top flight), scoring four goals.  Baah also made an appearance in Europa league for FC Honka (also Finland).  He has scored 11 goals in 104 appearances in all competitions.  He won Veikkausliiga's Rookie of the Year in 2013 as well.

The latest story, strangely enough, directly from MLSsoccer.com, states that Baah has changed his current location to "New Jersey USA" on Twitter.  This wouldn't be the first time Baah has taken to Twitter to break news.  He used the social networking site to reveal he moved from HJK to FC Honka in 2014.

If this deal goes through, the next question is, who gets the boot for RBNY?  They already have a full roster, two unsigned draft picks and a slew of trialists.
