US Soccer has released the United States Men's National Team roster for the upcoming pair of World Cup Qualifiers against Guatemala.
The squad summoned by head coach Jurgen Klinsmann consists of 26 players, including 13 who currently ply their trade in MLS. While 26 players were named to the roster, only 23 are permitted to dress for each match.
There are few surprises in a squad led by veterans Clint Dempsey, Jozy Altidore, Tim Howard, Michael Bradley, and Geoff Cameron. While Fabian Johnson made the roster, he is not expected to play as he suffered a groin strain in Borussia Mönchengladbach's most recent match and is out indefinitely.
Jozy Altidore also was named to the team, despite recent injury issues. He has yet to feature in MLS this season, but according to Waking the Red he is expected to make his season debut in Toronto FC's March 20th game against Sporting Kansas City.
No members of the New York Red Bulls roster were called.
Roster:
Goalkeepers (4): David Bingham (San Jose Earthquakes), Brad Guzan (Aston Villa/ENG), Tim Howard (Everton FC/ENG), William Yarbrough (Club Leon/MEX)
Defenders (9): Ventura Alvarado (Club America/MEX), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), Steve Birnbaum (D.C. United), John Brooks (Hertha Berlin/GER), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City/ENG), Edgar Castillo (Monterrey/MEX), Omar Gonzalez (Pachuca/MEX), Michael Orozco (Club Tijuana/MEX), DeAndre Yedlin (Sunderland/ENG)

Forwards (5): Jozy Altidore (Toronto FC), Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders FC), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes), Bobby Wood (Union Berlin/GER), Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy)
Several players including Jordan Morris, Wil Trapp, and Kellyn Acosta might have otherwise made the roster, but will instead feature for the U-23 USMNT which faces Colombia in a two-legged Olympic Qualifying series on March 25th and 29th.
The senior USMNT takes on Guatemala on Friday, March 25th in Guatemala City, and then the two sides meet again in Columbus, Ohio on Tuesday, March 29th. The matches will be vital for both teams as the U.S. is currently in 1st and Guatemala is just one point behind in 3rd, in Group C of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying. The top two teams in Group C will advance to the final round of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying, the Hexagonal.
