Buy 'Em or Bag 'Em Week 4: Where Do RBNY Go From Here?

A 4-3 victory. Hamstring injuries. An international break. A flailing opponent. We... Heart... Drama.

Roster change deadline: Saturday March 26, 3:00pm ET

Free Transfers this week: 2

The New York Red Bulls have reached a very interesting crossroads.  The Good: A 4-3 win over a high-flying Houston Dynamo.  The Bad: Allowing a league-high eight goals in three games.  The Ugly: Hamstring injuries to Gonzalo Veron, Gideon Baah and Ronald Zubar.  A light at the end of the tunnel is that they have a week off for the FIFA international break and face a New England Revolution team that is struggling mightily.

After losing the first two games of the season, Red Bull fans were excited that Gonzalo Veron would be returning from injury suffered in their final preseason game.  His return didn't last long, injuring his hamstring again 31 minutes into the Houston game.

On the same note, Gideon Baah AND Ronald Zubar have also injured their hamstrings.  Baah's looked pretty serious as he slammed the field with his fist before getting tended to.  All three injuries required RBNY to use all of their substitutions by the 54th minute.  A no-brainer for fantasy owners.  Bag all three.  Jesse Marsch stated that the three injuries are "significant".

My last bit of "Bag" news is for Dax McCarty.  He hasn't been his normal self.  He is third on the team in fantasy points, but because of the team's defensive woes and flux, he has to spend too much time helping them out.  That doesn't convert well to fantasy points.

Now for the good news.  The Red Bulls are back to their scoring ways.  Sacha Kljestan and Mike Grella each had one, and Felipe Martins had a late-game brace, including the game winning free kick.  They still haven't been able to find Bradley Wright-Phillips on a consistent basis, but at least there are options elsewhere in the meantime.  I would recommend to buy Felipe and/or Kljestan if you have the extra funds.

This is a bit of a strange fantasy week.  The "week" actually lasts nine days due to the international window starting towards the end of this calendar week.  Because of the extended time frame, four teams have double game weeks (D.C. United, Vancouver Whitecaps, New England Revolution and FC Dallas).  Those are good options to grab a captain from, but beware.  Many of the players you would probably grab have been called to their national teams like Lee Nguyen and Steve Birnbaum, so choosing them won't effectively maximize your point opportunities.

Be mindful that the week locks on Saturday, but it continues through the following Sunday, so all you can do is wait another week for the games to play out. Go USA! (And Canada... and Jamaica... and Cameroon)
