It's a short amount of time for the Red Bulls to get back to Red Bull Arena and try to earn another three points and continue to dig out of the hole they put themselves in, since the season started the only two games they scored multiple goals was against the Houston Dynamo and this past Sunday against Orlando City.
With this strange start to the season and what has happened in these first eight games with the statistics they are achieving with the amount of chances they have created the Red Bulls are aware that they need to continue this way and of course convert more goals on the opposition.
"We're happy about the goals & it's a great feeling and we are probably top of the league in certain categories" said Sacha Kljestan. "We need to keep that going and try to get more chances as possible."
But now they must turn their attention to FC Dallas that has been red hot to start the season and leading the Western Conference with a plethora of top talent coming from their youth academy and ripping it up. "We are facing a side that attacks well and defends well at the same time, they almost play like us and they also have four attackers that are very special."
Head Coach Jesse Marsch already feels like this could be a game where possession and bad errors could be big either for you or against you when you take on a team like FC Dallas. Mental sharpness will be a big key when Big D comes over for a Friday night tilt.
"I think they are most dangerous when they possess the ball." said Marsch, "So as we are in the attack, this could be a game where you possess the ball a lot and create some chances, but if we lose bad balls and those players are in free space, then that can cause you a lot of trouble. We need to keep track of (Mauro) Diaz because he makes them tick, so we respect this team that is very good and is well coached. We need to be ready for them."
Of course the big concern right now is the status of fitness for both Midfielder Gonzalo Veron as well as centerback Gideon Baah who are recovering from hamstring injuries about a month ago. "They are looking really good, both are day to day with a potential for Friday. Probably not from the start, but trying to factor in how to use them and be cautious with them not to reinjure them."
When you look at the performance from the last home game you really need to see this side come out hard and playing with the confidence that needs to be seen to get out of this hole. If the Red Bulls do get the full three points after this Friday, then there is plenty of potential to get back over that red line and into a playoff position.
But before they can get back up there, there needs to be another solid performance from the club to go back out to Red Bull Arena and take on a good young and talented side like FC Dallas. There needs to be more of the same to translate from Sunday to Friday night and continue this good feeling.
