In common with his team, Lloyd Sam had a slow start to the 2016 MLS season. In common with his team, Lloyd Sam seems to be heating up fast.
Last week, he tallied his first assists of the season (in RBNY's second win of the year). This week, his first goal of MLS 2016 was the highlight of perhaps his most influential game of this league campaign.
And it was a milestone goal.
.@MrLloydSam is the fifth player in team history with 20 career goals and 20 career assists following that goal. #NYvDAL

Well...that particular milestone was achieved last season. But sure, if RBNY only played MLS matches, then it is true. And it is true that Sam has now officially joined the elite group of players to have scored 20 and assisted 20 for RBNY in league games.
But the goal against FC Dallas was Sam's 24th for RBNY in all competitions, and 24 goals breaks him out of a three-way tie with Dane Richards and Mike Magee. The Red Bulls' star winger is now all alone in 10th place on RBNY's all-time, all-competitions career goal scoring list.
Congrats, Lloyd!
His assist on the third goal of the 4-0 trouncing of FCD also pushed Sam a little further up the list of the club's all-time creators: he is just the ninth player in RBNY history to tally 25 career assists in all competitions.
More congrats, Lloyd!
