The New York Red Bulls' 2-0 loss to D.C. United on May 14, 2016, was not one of Dax McCarty's favorites.
Dax McCarty: "I want to apologize to the fans for our performance. It's one of the most embarrassing performances I've been a part of...."

Unfortunately for the Captain, history will insist he remembers the game: it was the one in which he became just the second player to record 15,000 minutes in all competitions for RBNY.
The first - and only, until Dax got through the first three minutes of the second half against DC - player to reach 15,000 minutes played for the club was Mike Petke. That's the list of RBNY players who have cleared 15K minutes for the first team: Petke and McCarty.
Also, since he edged past Dane Richards all-competitions mark of 176 games played for RBNY, McCarty is now second only to Petke in all three major all-time, all-competitions appearances categories for the club (per MetroFanatic.com):
Name | Games Played | Games Started | Minutes |
Mike Petke | 197 | 185 | 16561 |
Dax McCarty | 177 | 169 | 15042 |
Dane Richards | 176 | 148 | 13413 |
Throw in two Supporters' Shields won in his tenure with RBNY (so far), and McCarty's time here adds up to one of the club's most significant playing careers.
Congrats, Captain! See you at the next career milestone.
