Bulls Abroad: Derrick Etienne on Haiti's reserve list for Copa America Centenario

He's not in Haiti's 23-man squad for Copa America, but he is close to it.

USA TODAY Sports

Thanks to @bana2166, who pointed Once A Metro in the direction of encouraging news out of Haiti: as reported by Haiti Tempo, the 23-man squad Les Grenadiers will send to Copa America Centenario has been selected.

The squad does not include New York Red Bulls' Derrick Etienne, but he is named as one of five reserves. That is not bad at all for a 19-year-old who turned pro this season and is still waiting for his RBNY first team debut.

A regular for the Red Bulls' reserve team this year, Etienne has consistently been one of the more eye-catching and productive players for NYRB II. In eight appearances in USL this season, he has tallied two goals and two assists: he is a forceful attacking presence for the RBNY reserves, and now he is a reserve for his country's senior national team.

Congrats, Derrick! Not quite what you were hoping for, but a compliment all the same.
