On Friday, Jamaica will play away in Chile in a friendly as they prepare for the Copa America Centenario.
Chile, the reigning Copa America champion, is currently ranked third in the world, behind only Belgium and Argentina. Meanwhile, the Reggae Boyz find themselves ranked 55th, having only won one game since October, a World Cup Qualifier against Haiti.
Despite their fantastic Gold Cup run last summer, Jamaica currently finds themselves third in their World Cup Qualifying group, three points behind Panama and six behind Costa Rica. The team hopes a successful showing in the Copa Centenario will spur on a CONCACAF revival and lift them into the HEX.
On a New York Red Bulls note, Kemar Lawrence has been called into the final 23 man roster for the Reggae Boyz. He looks to be the team's starting left back for the tournament. Other MLS players on the team include Philadelphia's Andre Blake, Houston's Giles Barnes, New England's Je-Vaughn Watson, San Jose's Simon Dawkins, and Portland's Jermaine Taylor. New York Red Bulls II forward Junior Flemmings did not make the final roster, though fellow USL player Ryan Thompson (St. Louis) did.
In turn, Chile will be led by Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez and Bayern Munich's Arturo Vidal in attack while Barcelona's Claudio Bravo and Inter's Gary Medel will sure up the defense.
