If at first you don't succeed: try, try again.
The New York Red Bulls have not ever succeeded in US Open Cup (insofar as they have never won it) - but will have the chance to avenge last year's frustrating exit to Philadelphia Union in the next round of the 2016 edition.
Philly went to the final in 2015, and will be hoping to go better this season, since the team appears to be good this season (not quite the case last year). Add home advantage to encouraging form, and the Union has reason to be optimistic about its chances on June 29.
The USOC match-up becomes the fourth scheduled meeting between RBNY and Philadelphia this season, but it jumps the queue: these teams won't face off in MLS until July, and then twice more in October.
And the Red Bulls already know they will be on the road again if they get past Philly: a trip to either New England Revolution or New York Cosmos awaits the winner of the RBNY-Union game.
