The New York Red Bulls have a crowded summer schedule: 13 MLS games between now and the end of August, plus at least one more US Open Cup match, plus (probably) a couple of CONCACAF Champions League games in that stretch. In the next 11 weeks, RBNY is looking at something like 15 to 18 competitive games.
Room for one more?
Who's asking?
The biggest club in North America.
Why didn't you say? Hop aboard.
Liga MX's resident superclub, Club America, is coming to town. It is not, of course, a competitive match: this is merely a friendly. And given RBNY's schedule and the presence of several of America's best-known players in Copa America Centenario, this is likely to be a very friendly game indeed. The Red Bulls were happy to send out the reserves to play Chelsea last summer (and precipitate the EPL side's crisis-stricken 2015-16 season), and will doubtless be happy to do so again.
America may not have much choice: several of the club's top players have been or are still involved in Copa America. They may be due a vacation after their involvement in an international tournament for the last several weeks.
The match is scheduled for Wednesday, July 6. Kick-off is at 8:00 pm.
RBNY Red Member Season Ticket Holders will get tickets for the game in their usual seats, and will enjoy a pre-sale window for additional tickets from 10:00 am to noon on Friday, June 17. Tickets go on sale to everyone else from noon on Friday, June 17.
