Reports: Shaun Wright-Phillips has minor injury, loves apple pie

We learned a few things about SWP this week.

Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

Shaun Wright-Phillips' first start for the New York Red Bulls since April 14 (and third start for the club since...ever) lasted 24 minutes. He limped out of US Open Cup duty in Rochester, adding further to concerns about how RBNY will cope with its growing summer schedule (in the time since SWP was last seen on the field of play, the Red Bulls have added a friendly and - since they won the game against the Rhinos - another USOC match).

Kristian Dyer reports for Big Apple Soccer that the Red Bulls' shorter Wright-Phillips is "hopefully day-to-day", per head coach Jesse Marsch.

This is good news: RBNY will need all the squad depth it can muster in the weeks ahead.

In unrelated SWP news this week, Captain Dax McCarty revealed the veteran winger's adventures in America are not limited to soccer:

Confirmed by the man himself:

And subsequently featuring an invitation to broaden SWP's apple pie range:

More power, and pie, to you SWP. Get well soon.
