Report: Damien Perrinelle is back in town for the New York Red Bulls

One of those rare occasions this season when there is good news about one of RBNY's center backs.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Big Apple Soccer's Kristian Dyer brought back encouraging news from New York Red Bulls' midweek training: Damien Perrinelle is returned from a rehab stint in France and it is hoped he will be back in training with the first team before the end of the current break in the schedule.

That is good news for a team that has suffered an unusual cluster of injuries to its center backs, and even its stand-in-not-really-center-backs (it is also reported that Chris Duvall might be back in contention for selection by the time RBNY's league schedule starts up again on June 19).

The Red Bulls are heading into a crowded June schedule: the US Open Cup game on June 15 is followed by a run of three league matches in one week. In July, there will be a similar three-games-in-a-week stretch. And in August, the team can expect its CONCACAF Champions League schedule to kick in. Throw in whatever number of USOC games RBNY manages to eke out this year: the Red Bulls can certainly use the boost provided by an experienced defender with a particular talent for understanding the demands of RalfBall.

Welcome back, DP. Hope to see you back on the pitch soon.
