The New York Red Bulls appealed the ludicrous red card awarded to Aurelien Collin by referee Fotis Bazakos during the mid-week match against Real Salt Lake. RBNY had a strong case, since the card aligned with neither standard interpretations of the rules of soccer (players aren't supposed to be sent off for clean tackles) or those Bazakos was working to in the game itself. But the appeal has fallen on deaf ears:
I am still suspended and I really don't know how they found anything wrong about my tackle.. Can't wait to see the report

RBNY head coach Jesse Marsch doesn't use Twitter often, but he made a rare social media appearance after receiving the baffling decision to decline the Red Bulls' appeal:
I have zero clue how Collin's red card is not rescinded. Really frustrating and disappointing. No problem tho, we got this. #RBNY

The Red Bulls will kick off - without Collin - against Columbus Crew in Columbus at 7:30 pm on Saturday, June 25.
