Congratulations to Tyler Adams for his selection to the 2016 MLS Homegrown Team roster. The team, essentially a sort of MLS U-23 Homegrown All-Star squad, will play a Mexico U-20 selection on July 27 as part of MLS' All-Star festivities.
This is the third time MLS has selected a Homegrown squad to play during the All-Star break. The New York Red Bulls have had a lone representative on each of the three rosters. Connor Lade was selected to the 2014 squad that drew 0-0 with a Portland Timbers U-23 team. Last year's selection featured Sean Davis and played Club America's U-20s, tying 1-1 before losing the penalty shootout that followed. Now Tyler Adams will keep RBNY's Homegrown flag flying.
The 17-year-old midfielder has one first-team appearance to date this season, but has also made eight appearances for NYRB II in USL, as well as spending time with the USA U-18 Men's National Team.
The full 2016 Homegrown Team roster:
Goalkeepers:
Jesse Gonzalez (FC Dallas), Maxime Crepeau (Montreal Impact)
Defenders:
Danilo Acosta (Real Salt Lake), Justen Glad (Real Salt Lake), Aaron Guillen (FC Dallas), Phanuel Kavita (Real Salt Lake), Jalen Robinson (D.C. United), Tyler Turner (Orlando City SC)
Midfielders:
Tyler Adams (New York Red Bulls), Jordan Allen (Real Salt Lake), Jay Chapman (Toronto FC), Coy Craft (FC Dallas), Harrison Heath (Orlando City SC), Aaron Kovar (Seattle Sounders), Raul Mendiola (LA Galaxy), Tommy Thompson (San Jose Earthquakes)

The Mexico U-20 squad for the game has not yet been named.
Currently, the All-Star break looks like a rest opportunity for the Red Bulls. No players were named to the All-Star Team Fan XI. The rest of the squad will be announced on July 17.
