While the defense managed to hold down the fort against a talented Portland Timbers team this past Sunday, the New York Red Bulls found themselves down yet another man - Gideon Baah, now out for the rest of the MLS season - and once again failed to score a goal.
On Wednesday night the Red Bulls meet their Florida foes Orlando City SC, who are going through a significant rough patch of their own. Orlando City SC finds itself seeking a new manager after firing Adrian Heath, as well as in a scoring slump, and are expected to bench Kaka due to injury. Needless to say, the issues the Red Bulls are having are essentially dwarfed by those of Orlando City.
As for the New York Red Bulls' lineup, centerbacks Aurelien Collin and Chris Duvall will both be available after serving the match bans they earned from the loss to NYCFC. Even if Gideon Baah wasn't hurt (Get well soon!) we could reasonably expect at least Collin to find himself a roster spot.
With that in mind, here is the Red Bulls predicted XI vs Orlando City SC:
GK Luis Robles
DF Connor Lade
DF Chris Duvall - The ban for Duvall may have been a blessing in disguise as he gets some extra rest.
DF Aurelien Collin - Arguably the best defender on the team, Collin will need to show up big against Cyle Larin.
DF Sal Zizzo
MF Dax McCarty
MF Felipe
MF Mike Grella
MF Sacha Kljestan
MF Gonzalo Veron
FW Bradley Wright-Phillips
It is worth noting that it was a home win over Orlando City back in April that ended our first four-game winless run. We can only hope history repeats itself tonight. *knock on wood*
