On Thursday, Juky 7, Sky Blue FC (3-4-4 13 points) announced that it has placed forward Kim DeCesare on the 45-day disabled list. DeCesare suffered a right knee contusion sometime last week in the team's preparations for their road match against the Portland Thorns.
DeCesare was unavailable for the road match against the Thorns because of the injury. However, she tweeted her support for Sky Blue and her teammates during the game.

Sky Blue should only be without DeCesare for three or four matches, as DeCesare will be out partially during the Rio window built into the NWSL season because of the Olympics.
DeCesare, who has made three starts over six appearances for Sky Blue, has logged a total of 242 minutes and registered three shots so far this season for the club.
Most notably for Sky Blue fans, it was DeCesare who headed a ball past goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart in the June 11 match against FC Kansas City, only to have the ball bounce back over the line and smothered by Barnhart. The referee ruled it a no goal despite screenshots showing the ball was clearly over the line and, therefore, should have notched Sky Blue three points against the two-time reigning league champions.
Meanwhile, the club also announced that it has activated forward Danielle Schulmann, who was formerly on the 45-day disabled list as she recovered from a right hip strain, which has since healed.
Schulmann logged 42 minutes over three matches before she was placed on the disabled list.
Sky Blue FC returns home on July 9th to Yurcak Field to face off against Houston Dash. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. EST.
