Chris Thorsheim finds a home, signs with Middelfart
After many months of traveling around the U.S. and Europe, Chris Thorsheim has found a new home. On August 6th, Thorsheim signed a one-year contract with BK Middelfart. Yes Middelfart. I'll pause for 30 seconds and then we can continue with a serious conversation, okay? Okay.
The 22 year-old, described by Middelfart as a rightback, joins the Danish Second Division side after spending time with NYRBII and Vejle BK, amongst others. After a stellar college career at Bucknell, where he played a midfielder, and with the New York Red Bulls U23s, where he featured as a rightback, Thorsheim signed with the New York Red Bulls back in December before being cut in March.
The one-year agreement seems to give both the club and Thorsheim flexibility in the future, allowing both to move on or up depending on what the season brings. Apparently, he's earned the nickname Thor with his Danish teammates as well.

A centerpiece of that Bucks team was New York Red Bulls academy starlet, Adam Najem. He led the team with nine assists in the regular season, while also adding a goal and an assist in the playoffs.
Additionally, two days before, Najem won the PDL Creative Player of the Year award.

It's safe to say that NYRB U23s missed a player of his quality just a little bit, hopefully, the New York Red Bulls do not end up thinking the same.
Etienne debuts
After two years of lighting New York Red Bulls II aflame Derrick Etienne has made his first team debut. This past week, Etienne came off the bench Antigua for a 20-minute cameo appearance. Though he didn't get on the score sheet, Etienne did look lively, bringing his signature attacking spark up to the first team. This is likely the first of many appearances for Etienne with the New York Red Bulls.
This past month has been a big one for Etienne as he assisted against Argentina's Olympic team for Haiti and played in the MLS Homegrown game against Mexico's U20 team all prior to making his first team debut.
