Diego Forlan has confirmed his next move to Uruguayan outlet Ovacion TV: Indian Super League's Mumbai City FC.

The persistent and erroneous links to New York Red Bulls can now be laid to rest. At least until January: Indian Super League is a three-month gig starting in September. Forlan should be a free agent again in time for the winter transfer window.

His new club has yet to officially announce his arrival, but it is reported Forlan will shortly join the Mumbai squad in Dubai for preseason training.

Additional confirmation can perhaps be taken from the report from Australian paper The Courier-Mail that negotiations to bring Forlan to A-League's Brisbane Roar have failed. The report suggests the Uruguayan star might have joined Brisbane under the same rule that has facilitated Tim Cahill's move to A-League - but it is not to be.

And Marc Weber reports for The Province that a possible deal to bring Forlan to Vancouver Whitecaps has also fallen through.

So expect to hear official confirmation of Forlan's move to ISL. To be followed in December by a fresh set of rumors, in time for the January transfer season.
