Credit is due to the New York Red Bulls for taking their CONCACAF Champions League campaign seriously, respecting their opponents, and making encouraging progress in the early stages of the competition. The club's commitment to performing well in CCL goes beyond naming strong starting lineups; it also extends to taking some of its locker-room spirit on the road in the form of injured club captain Dax McCarty.
While in El Salvador to watch his teammates play Alianza FC in CCL, McCarty told Red Bulls Radio he was off his crutches and hoping to be recovered from his injury a little earlier than might have been expected.
And he told Ernesto Motta he might return to the squad in "a couple weeks".
This is encouraging news. The Captain will doubtless need a little time to get fit after a long lay-off once he returns to training, but the sooner he can get back to first team activities, the better.
Get well soon, Dax.
