For reasons yet to be made clear, the New York Red Bulls have not granted Anatole Abang the courtesy of a press release announcing his loan to Danish club Hobro IK.
But if there is any ill will between club and player - and it has been rumored - you won't hear it from Abang. The Cameroonian took a moment to graciously acknowledge RBNY's role in his move and his development in comments reported by Bold.dk last week:
I would first like to thank the New York Red Bulls for their support by giving me this opportunity. They have given me a professional base, and now they have helped me to take another step in my career.
Abang is eager to impress his new club:
I would like to thank the staff and the owners of HIK for this chance. And to the fans, I would say that I look forward to playing in front of you, and we will all work hard to bring the club back in the Super League.
His biggest challenge might simply be getting into the team. Hobro has scored four goals in each of its last three league games, winning them all. The club is currently third in the Danish First Division (second tier).
Abang's will not be able to focus on breaking into the starting lineup until he returns from international duty with Cameroon.
