Matt Miazga's Deadline-Day slalom to a better shot at playing time has finally reached a (thankfully) positive end: Chelsea has announced the 21-year-old center back has been loaned to Vitesse Arnhem.
The relationship between Chelsea and Vitesse is well established - and the subject of its own section over at We Ain't Got No History. Hitting the well-traveled path to the Blues' Dutch satellite wasn't what the rumor mill had in mind for Miazga, who was linked to Sunderland, Anderlecht, Espanyol, and several other teams during the course of the summer transfer season.
But the center-back's minimum requirement for this season would seem to have been to get a loan to a top-flight European club where he will have a reasonable chance of getting competitive minutes with first team. The move to Vitesse satisfies that requirement. He is one of three Chelsea players on loan to the Dutch side this season.

The club is currently fifth in the Eredivisie. Its favored center back pairing is Maikel van der Werff and Guram Kashia.
The former New York Red Bulls player and reigning US Soccer Young Male Athlete of the Year has his work cut out for him.
