There is a nightmare scenario in CONCACAF World Cup qualifying for USA that goes like this: USMNT beats St. Vincent in its next game to get to 10 points heading into the final set of fourth round qualifying games; Guatemala beats Trinidad and Tobago, pushing itself up to 9 points; Guatemala goes on to beat SVG, finishing with 12 points in the group; USMNT loses to T&T in its final group match - and is eliminated. T&T and Guatemala advance to the Hex.
To avoid even having to think about that scenario (and it is unlikely because it involves Guatemala winning in Trinidad and T&T winning in the USA), USMNT fans want the Soca Warriors to win this game.
The T&T squad includes a number of US-based players, familiar to those who watch MLS, NASL or USL. But keep an eye out for three players not currently playing in the USA.
Kenwyne Jones will be joining Atlanta United next season, and is home playing for Central FC until then. It is thought he will be a big deal in MLS 2017. Daneil Cyrus made the mistake of joining Chicago Fire in 2015. He is back in Trinidad now, but remains one of the more highly-rated defenders of his generation in the Soca Warriors' player pool. Levi Garcia is unlikely to land in MLS any time soon (if ever), but he was scooped up by Earnie Stewart - now doing his team-building for Philadelphia Union - for AZ when Garcia was attracting the attention of European pro clubs to Trinidadian schoolboy soccer.
On the Guatemalan side, Carlos Ruiz is (still) in the squad. As is, Colorado Rapids' Marco Pappa. The game isn't quite a must-win for Los Chapines - a draw keeps some hope of qualifying alive - but they will know they are in the Hex if they win their last two games.
T&T just needs to win this one to claim its place in the next round. And if USA has beaten SVG, a Soca Warriors win in this game clinches a Hex spot for USMNT also.
